The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and
Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development
Department Punjab (L&DD) under the project of ‘Capacity Building of dairy farmers & industry
stakeholders on milk value chain’ organised concluding ceremony of five days hands-on training
on cheese making.
Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and Director General Research
Livestock Department Dr Sajjad co-chaired the concluding ceremony of training and distributed
certificates among participants while Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 25
participants/professionals from public and private sectors including dairy farmers, veterinary
officers, dieticians & consultants were present.
During five days training experts imparted theoretical, practical knowledge, techniques and skills
to participant regarding food safety management systems in dairy industry, introduction of
cheese & role of pasteurization in cheese production, practical demonstration & production of
soft, hard & artisan cheese, nutritional facts and health benefits of cheese, fostering
entrepreneurship through business incubation, industry analysis, market strategy, promotion and
advertisement of cheese variants etc.
Earlier, Prof Dr Kauser Abdullah Malik paid a visit to recently establish Genomic Centre of the
University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim
Ahmad welcomed the delegate and briefed about the establishment of Genomic Centre in
Parasitology Department under HEC Pakistan’s funding in GCF-273. Chairman Department of
Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Principal Investigator Prof Dr Imran Rashid and Dr
Haroon Akbar were also present on the occasion. Prof Kauser visited the Genomic Centre of
Parasitology and appreciated the team of Prof Imran working under the leadership of Prof Dr
Nasim Ahmad and Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf.
